Do a quick Google search on “Coventry shithole” and it returns nearly 33,000 results. Clearly, paradise doesn’t exist in life, and there are places you would avoid going to or living in, but Coventry really is the closest definition to a ghetto.

Let’s start with the areas you should avoid going to at night. Hillfields, Canley, Tile Hill, the city centre itself…the list is endless. Just stay home at night, you’d feel a lot safer.

The ring road is a fucking abomination. Not only does it consist of roundabouts every quarter of a mile, but the entrance/exit sliproads are less than 60m long. Yes, 60 metres to enter/exit a dual carriageway (for the readers who don’t drive, it’s a 2 lane road with a speed limit of 40mph). That’s just an accident waiting to happen. And the signs are very unclear and misleading - sometimes you have to keep left just to STAY ON the ring road! (Again for those who don’t drive, you enter/exit sliproads on the left if your car is a RHD)

The whole city looks like a drab place with the tallest building being the Ramada hotel (15 stories or so), and everything taking on an industrial look from the 60s. In fact, nothing seems to have changed since the 1960s. The Germans seemed to have the right idea when they levelled the entire city during WW2 but some locals, due to some misguided local pride or something similar, decided to build the city with a distinctly Soviet look.
